Q&A: Christine Buser accentuates the positive

If you think that all Collections Specialists are rude and confrontational, you obviously haven’t met Christine Buser or spoken to her on the phone. On the contrary, she is patient, calm, and understanding. In fact, she enjoys talking to patients and helping them with their financial situation. “I find that most people are good and we all face similar difficulties in our lives,” she says. Scroll down for the complete Q&A with Christine.

Q: How long have you been working at Blue Ridge Orthopaedic?

I have worked here for just over 2 years.

Q: What is your job title?

I am a Collections Specialist.

Q: What does your job entail?

I work patient accounts by collecting on account balances for the various medical practices in the GPMA family (I also am the sounding board for frustrated patients...jk!)

Q: What do you like most about your job?

What I like most about my job is talking to the patients. I find that most people are good and we all face similar difficulties in our lives.

Q: What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

A career lesson I have learned here is through the patients that people are all very similar. I have learned that people all need help at some point in their lives and that all people face difficulties in their lives. I have learned patience and compassion in this position.

Q: What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?

If I weren't doing this, my job of choice would be to have a nursery. I love plants and flowers!

Q: What profession would you definitely NOT like to do?

I would never ever want to work at the DMV.

Q: What county do you live in?

I live in Culpeper County.

Q: What do you like best about your county?

I love the small town feel and vibe of Culpeper.

Q: What is your favorite local business?

I love the new Sangria Bowl there. It has a hipster feel that I appreciate Culpeper trying to introduce that!

Q: What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

When I am not working I like to visit my 3 grown kids and we do a lot of things together. I also enjoy being with friends.

Q: Where’s your favorite place in the world?

I love to be at the beach. There are a couple in North Carolina that I enjoy and I love beaches in southern Florida.

Q: What is your motto or personal mantra?

I guess my personal mantra would be what I always tell my kids to be true to yourself in all things and eliminate the negative.

Q: If you could meet anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

If I could meet anyone it would be Steven Tyler. He is my favorite person on this earth ... lol.

Q: What is the most recent TV show you binge watched?

My latest binges were Dead to Me and Queer Eye.

Q: If you could have any superpower what would it be?

Mind reading would be a cool superpower.

Q: What is one food that you cannot resist?

I love anything pasta.

Q: Are you a dog person or a cat person (or neither)?

I am a cat person! (but dogs are alright too)
