Medical assistants work alongside physicians, mainly in outpatient facilities, such as medical offices and clinics. At Blue Ridge Orthopaedic & Spine Center, we appreciate the work that our Medical Assistants do every day. Medical Assistants are instrumental in helping patients feel at ease in the physician’s office and often explain the physician's instructions.

 

Additional job functions could be, but are not limited to:

...welcoming patients, updating and filing patient medical records, arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services, taking medical histories, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, assisting the physician during exams, collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, instructing patients about medications, preparing and administering medications as directed by a physician, removing sutures and changing dressings, placing castings.
